Boys Don't Cry

It's a silent winter morning
First snow is sinking down
The old trees are cut out sharply
Of the sky above my town
And I'm sitting on the schoolyard
Walls are all around me but I don't care no more
I can hear the traffic roar

And I try to hold a memory
Which is softly fading by
And they tell me, boys don't cry

And I hear my Paul McCartney
And you your Depeche Mode
And though some of it sounds happy
I can't keep from losing hope
And I watch the sun arising
And everything is running like any other day
I'd like to run away

And I try to hold a memory
Which is softly fading by
And they tell me, boys don't cry

Yes, we speak of things that matter
With words we have to say
"Isn't this an ugly weather?"
"Will we write a test today?"
But if I told my feelings
I bet that you'd be laughing
I bet you'd make them die
So I prefer to lie

And I try to hold a memory
Which is softly fading by
And the Cure sing "Boys Don't Cry"

And I'm told my time was coming
I even s'pose that's right
But today I'm fed up with waiting
'Cause I just ain't got the time
And I'm told that I'm too fearful
Well rather than tomorrow I'd tell you all today
If I knew you'd listen to me

Till then I'll try to hold this memory
Try to stop it fading by
And don't you tell me, boys don't cry

December 7, '87. I honestly was not aware of the likewise named song by the Cure then. (The reference to it was added later, because I felt then and still feel now that it does fit quite nicely.)
